Workshop Programme Listed below is our current Workshop Programme. We are sorry it is not possible to book on line in view of the changing availability status of each class. Please send your workshop fee to: The Quilt Room, 20 West Street, Dorking RH4 1BL with your name, address and contact telephone number. In the event of a workshop being full, we will refund your money. Your name will be placed on a Waiting List and we will contact you in the event of a cancellation. If you would like to be e-mailed to bring to your attention workshops that have spaces available, please give us your e-mail address. Mid-Week Beginners’ Patchwork and Quilting Course with Carolyn Forster (+) Price:£90.00 Dates: Wednesdays, 9th & 23rd January, 6th & 27th February, 12th March and 23rd April 2008 Six full days. Learn all the basics along with hints and tips to get your patchwork and quilting off to a flying start. Using the classic Saw Tooth Star block and its many variations we make a traditional patchwork quilt and get to grips with hand quilting and binding to finish. A beginners’ class, or for those with some experience who want to consolidate the basics. Hand and machine work.

Intermediate Patchwork & Quilting Course with Carolyn Forster (++) Price:£65.00 Dates: Wednesdays, 16th & 30th January, 13th February, 5th & 19th March, 30th April 2008 One full day followed by five Wednesday mornings from 10 - 12.30. Take your basic knowledge of patchwork and quilting one step further. You will make a quilt increasing your techniques to include set in seams, sewing curves, appliqué and fast sewing methods and designing, quilting and sewing more accurately. Quilting design is covered for hand quilting.

Lone Star Quilt (Two Days) with Alison Wood (++) Date: Saturdays, 26th April & 17th May 2008 This stunning traditional design, also known as Star of Bethlehem, is made up of lots of diamonds and can be pieced using templates or the paper piecing method. Here it is made using rotary cutting and strip piecing techniques which saves time but accuracy is vital. So, if you fancy a challenge, check your quarter inch seam allowance, choose six vibrant colours and a background and prepare to impress your friends. Rotary cutting and machine piecing. Price:£55.00

Corded & Stuffed with Sylvia Critcher (+) Date: Thursday, 8th May 2008 A very simple yet effective combination of Italian quilting. Trapunto and French style cording. Add to this some English quilting and see the stunning results You will take home a completed item that can be used alone or in conjunction with other patchwork and quilting projects. You will need a workshop kit which Sylvia will provide and this will be available on the day at a cost of £4.50. Hand work. Price:£35.00

Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend with Margaret Hughes (++) Date: Saturday, 10th May 2008 A gem of a quilt which looks absolutely stunning. It is made up of a large diamond pattern set on the diagonal. It is not as difficult as it looks but it is guaranteed to impress your quilting friends! We have given it a two star rating as it is probably a little bit beyond a total beginner with no rotary cutting experience. Rotary cutting, machine piecing. Price:£30.00

Strip Club (FREE) Date: Monday, 12th May 2008 from 10am - 11am Fingers crossed, this might be a celebratory Strip Club meeting as our new book Jelly Roll Quilts is due out at the beginning of May. The book features quilts from our Strip Club meetings plus lots of new ones. Come and join the fun.

Make up a small picture using simple flower designs. These can also be used in a larger quilt and look stunning when mixed with pieced blocks. Price:£30.00

Additional Information Requirements Discount: When you are sent your Requirements List, you will see that you will be entitled to 10% discount on all purchases required for the class. Please note our Loyalty Logo stamps cannot be issued in conjunction with your 10% discount for class purchases. Time and Place: All classes commence at 10.00 a.m. and end at 3.30 p.m. (unless otherwise stated) and are held at 20 West Street, Dorking. Coffee will be served from 9.30 a.m. onwards until the class commences. A sandwich lunch is provided at 12 noon. Please note we are unable to cater for specific dietary requirements. The fee does not include materials, unless otherwise stated. Classes are limited to 10 people. Rating: To help make it easier to decide whether a course is for you, refer to the star rating. (+) Never made a patchwork quilt. (++) Made patchwork quilts, so you are familiar with basic techniques and terminology. (+++) Have made patchwork quilts and are looking for techniques to stretch your experience. Cancellations: Payment will be taken for the Workshop when you make your booking to ensure your place on the class. A refund in the form of a Credit Note will only be given if 14 days' notice of cancellation is received (less £2.50 administration costs for each Workshop cancelled). If there is not sufficient support for any workshop and the workshop has to be cancelled, this will be done seven days before the date of the workshop. A full refund will of course be given. Waiting List: If the workshop is full we will refund your money. Your name will be placed on a Waiting List and we will contact you in the event of a cancellation. Samples: Although we endeavour to have samples of as many classes as possible on display in the shop, we don’t have samples of every class. If planning a special trip to see a sample, please telephone the shop in advance to check. We do have pictures of many of the samples up on our website.
