NEW changes to workshop venue

The Quilt Room shop will be moving to 37-39 High Street Dorking right next to our studio in the New Year.

All workshops during January will be held above the shop at 20 West Street but as from 1st February they will take place at our lovely studio behind the new shop.

You will be able to drop your sewing machine at the shop before parking if you wish and if you need any further help or information please just contact us.

We are sorry it is not possible to book on line in view of the changing availability status of each class. Please telephone the shop on 01306 740739 to for availability bookings.

In the event of a workshop being full, we will refund your money. Your name will be placed on a Waiting List and we will contact you in the event of a cancellation.

Quilting On The Go (Two Days)+

Carolyn's book has been a great success and in this workshop she will take you through the technique of 'Quilting On The Go'. Never again leave your quilting languishing at home, waiting for your return. It can now go with you! Now you can sew quilts that can be quilted in small portable pieces-it means basting is a small and manageable task. And when, you get to put al those blocks together the quilt is virtually complete. This year we are featuring some of the quilts made from half a jelly roll which will be featured in our new book Two From One Jelly Roll Quilts coming out later in the year. You can make two entirely different quilts from just one jelly roll. An informal talk about the techniques involved in making this month's quilt and a FREE pattern given away.

Please note that this class now meets on the first Monday of each month straight after the Strip Club. A fun and relaxing hour having a cup of coffee and chat. We are continuing our simple appliqué Block of the Month and if you want to come along you will receive your FREE pattern plus we will talk you through this month's block. If you can't make the class, the pattern will be available throughout the month at a small charge.



Mid-Week Beginners' Patchwork and Quilting Course. +

Six full days. Learn all the basics along with hints and tips to get your patchwork and quilting off to a flying start. Using the classic Saw Tooth Star block and its many variations we make a traditional patchwork quilt and get to grips with hand quilting and binding to finish. A beginners' class, or for those with some experience who want to consolidate the basics. Hand and machine work.

We will cover patchwork techniques and give you lots of tips to speed things up so you should have your cushion pieced during the day. We will then cover basting your three layers together in preparation for quilting and start you on hand quilting. A great starter class or for someone who knows what they are doing and just wants to have a fun day making a patchwork project.

This is a class everyone is talking about! Invisible Machine Appliqué is suitable for all levels of quilters and Dawn promises you will master the technique in one day. You will learn how to produce beautiful appliqué, on your machine, which will demand close inspection to see it was not hand done. This is NOT satin stitch and bonding web but a technique Dawn has taught and used over the past 15 years - even in her reproduction antique quilts. A truly fun class!

Many of you admire the wonderful fabrics designed by Kaffe Fassett and other designers of large scale prints but confess to being a little afraid of them. Come to this class and your design plan will be drawn up for you in advance. We will audition fabrics so that you can finalize the fabric choices for your quilt (size 84" x 96"). The main focus of the class is to build your confidence in putting strong prints together to achieve good design, and if there is time we will start stitching. This class is great fun and quite a learning curve.

Krys used to own the lovely Kew quilting shop and teaches frequently in France. We feel very lucky to have pinned her down for this class!

This is such a lovely quilt to make, it's easy and very quick and teaches you five techniques which help brush up those patchwork skills. You can use a jelly roll or scraps from your stash or ten fat quarters. The sashing can be cut from plain cottons, floral, checks, linens or denim. It's perfect for a baby quilt especially if you use white sashing, great for the man in your life if you use his cast off shirts, go girlie with lots of pink, or moody with country colours, an all round winner. We have put two smiley faces as you do need to know how to use a rotary cutter but that's just about all. Come and join the fun. Rotary cutting and machine sewing.

Requirements Discount: When you are sent your Requirements List, you will see that you will be entitled to 10% discount on all purchases required for the class. Please note our Loyalty Logo stamps cannot be issued in conjunction with your 10% discount for class purchases.

Time and Place: All classes commence at 10.00 a.m. and end at 3.30 p.m. (unless otherwise stated) and will be held at our new studio at 37a High Street, Dorking. Please read 'New changes' at top of page. Coffee will be served from 9.30 a.m. onwards until the class commences. Please note that workshops do not include lunches. However, there are lots of places that you can buy lunch or bring your own.

The workshop fee does not include materials, unless otherwise stated. Classes are limited to 10 people.

Cancellations: Payment will be taken for the Workshop when you make your booking to ensure your place on the class. A refund in the form of a Credit Note will only be given if 14 days' notice of cancellation is received (less £2.50 administration costs for each Workshop cancelled). If there is not sufficient support for any workshop and the workshop has to be cancelled, this will be done seven days before the date of the workshop. A full refund will of course be given.

Waiting List: If the workshop is full we will refund your money. Your name will be placed on a Waiting List and we will contact you in the event of a cancellation.

Samples: Although we endeavour to have samples of as many classes as possible on display in the shop, we don’t have samples of every class. If planning a special trip to see a sample, please telephone the shop in advance to check. We do have pictures of many of the samples up on our website.
